January 10: DEAD SERIOUS site opens, screenings set
New York filmmaker Michael J. Hein just revealed to Fango that an official website is now open for DEAD SERIOUS, which he produced and also co-wrote with director Joe Sullivan. The movie, which is currently seeking distribution, is set in a New York City gay bar that is taken over by a puritanical televangelist and his group of right-wing terrorists. The place is also inhabited by vampires, and a young couple (Michael Weingartner and SLEEPAWAY CAMP’s Felissa Rose) become caught up in the ensuing mayhem. The site includes a photo gallery, cast/crew info and more, with a trailer coming soon.
NYC fans can catch the movie on January 23, when the Two Boots Pioneer Theater (155 East 3rd Street and Avenue A) will host a special screening of DEAD SERIOUS at 7 p.m. The showing, presented by Fearsmag.com and Monsters HD as part of the One Dark and Stormy Night series, is a fundraiser for WBAI radio. Hein and other crew and cast members will be present at the show, which will also include trailers and behind-the-scenes peeks at other upcoming movies as well as audience prizes. Tickets are $6.50 for members, students and seniors and $9 for the general public, and can be ordered in advance by clicking here.
In addition, DEAD SERIOUS will be showcased this Friday, January 13 at the Brussels International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, one of the oldest such fests in Europe; go here for more info. Look for a set-visit report on DEAD SERIOUS in Fango’s pages later this year. —Michael Gingold
